Sei-Ki is looking into human nature and seeing things as they are.
- Akinobu Kishi
Sei-ki (pronounced ‘say-kee’) is less well-known than shiatsu but just as powerful. It’s a healing practice developed from shiatsu by highly respected teacher Akinobu Kishi. Like shiatsu, sei-ki aims to shift your body into healing mode through touch. The difference is that in a sei-ki session, I’ll concentrate on just a few areas for longer periods. Your body and breathing tell me how your ki is flowing, so I can identify the spaces where the energy feels stuck or distorted, and I then stay in these spaces using skilled touch to shift and release it.
Sei-ki is a deeply still and soothing practice that can bring about potent changes in your life. It can support your wellbeing in similar ways to shiatsu, and can help you shed what doesn’t serve so that your true, authentic self can shine.
I attended extensive Sei-ki Training with Alice Whieldon in 2018 - 2019 and continue to train through regular practice and attending workshops to deepen my Sei-ki experience.

Sei-ki embraces the process of healing and does not seek to cure.
In Sei-ki we cherish the process of healing. If you are sick you can objectively observe your desire and feeling. It is not the direct purpose of Sei-ki to cure illness, but there is cure. Imagine you are a river. Ideally, the flow of water should be easy, but there can be stones damming it at point and the flow becomes choked. This is how we are when we have blocks. Shiatsu aims to remove the stones for you, so it’s passive. In Sei-ki, the aim is to give attention to the blocks. Suggest the main points which link or influence others in the flow; the river can then flow and clear itself. You don’t take the blocks away for the person. Sei-ki is just looking to see how the body changes or reacts through resonance. Cure is finding your natural self and talent and living your life authentically.
